Sorry to harp on about broadband but I'm keen not to use my allowance in 24 hours - if I listen to the radio via the net is it eating my allowance?

Anyone know how much I use per hour of online radio?

Cheers

Cheers guys - I believe my ISP also track my 'consumption' but as yet I haven't managed to log into my account and see how I'm going.

Generally speaking is listing to Radio particularly 'thirsty' for my allowance?
Radio, and general internet browsing should hardly touch your allowance, its when you start downloading that speciality porn your so fond of that the gigabytes start to really accumulate.

"Streaming both audio and video is now very popular, but can also be very data intensive. It is estimated that streaming one-hour of low quality television from the BBC iPlayer will see you downloading almost 250MB of data, while watching in higher quality is estimated at 300+MB per hour. High definition and DVD quality streaming will be even higher.

Audio is obviously less data intensive, but can still add up. Spotify, for example, suggests it accounts for 256Kb - this means, in data terms, that you will be downloading around 100MB of data per hour."

You have a broadband 'allowance'...  is that something you get from your mum & dad every week?

typical broadcast digital mono radio is 64 kbps stereo would be 128.

Megabytes per hour = 64 * 1024 * 60 * 60 / 8 / 1024/1024 = 28

Not quite-over here they cap your broadband much lower than anything like we were used to in the UK. We only have 12gb per month and I don't want to use it up in the first week listening to Uk radio.
