Hi,

Want to do a long weekend ride at 7 Stanes. The option of the sleeper train from London (where I work) sounds attractive compared to driving up the motorway. The tickets don't look too dear if you book in advance.

Is it possible to get to Glentress/Interleithen by train and bike? I have tried looking on the website, but all the stations look a long way off from the trails and I don't think buses are bike freindly. Am I missing a trick or is it just not practical?

Would be great mud-plugging weekend if possible...
If you can get to peebles, its only a few miles from the trails.

You are correct, they are nowhere near a train station...

But if your train went into Edinburgh, you could then ride out (southeast) into the hills and then get on to the Southern Upland Way and in a long day be in Innerleithen...

It may be worth ringing the bike shop on site, to see if they know of any taxi services that will get you there from Edinburgh, or a nearer station. You can't be the first person to face this problem, a little local knowledge may help. iirc there is an alpine bikes in Interleithen and they were very helpful. There is also the uplift service at Interleithen sometimes, he may know of the best way to get there.

Much easier to come to Dumfries, stay in town and ride out to Mabie or Ae.

Or arrange for Sam/Clair from Breakpad to pick you up and transfer you over to the very best trail, Kirroughtree. Then do Dalbeattie.

Or arrange some dates with me and the Hobo Style crew and I can show you around.

Contact Rob and he may be able to do something for you http://www.ae7.co.uk/

 Contact John or Euan @ Mabie/Dumfries http://www.bikingheaven.com/

Thanks all for your responses. Some research for me to do with a cup of tea.
