With the new job,I will be ending up with a 10 mile round trip from the train station to twork and would like to get into the habit of riding home the 24 miles along roads.Once in a while I would like to take the bike on some fire track type riding, even around Llandegla.Do you lot of misfits in all your wisdom think THIS bike is the bargain it seems to me?

Views please.

Nice but there are plenty of others at that price and spec I'd get this I think. Only 1 left of the Planet X so best get your skates on.
I would go for the kafenback, I think Greenville has one built up as a cyclocross bike, a bit more versatile then the bad boy IMO.

Eh? Nah, I have a Genesis Croix de Fer cyclocross bike and an old Marin Pine Mountain built up with a 48/34 front and 11-23 rear, slicks, flat bars and bar ends - great commuter (AKA Project Greenville).

Oh, I thought it was you who kept posting picks of a planet-x cyclocross bike.

edit: ooh I like that genesis

As flat bar roadies go that's more appealing to my eyes than most. And the price is right.

Well I ended up buying a Roadrat off a very nice gentleman from another forum.

Cotic Roarat, medium frame and forks, black. Spare pair of forks

Spec-

Avid SD7 vees with Speed Dial levers
FSA Orbit XL2 Headset
Tough 36 spoke touring wheels, Shimano hubs, 9sp cassette, Bontrager Hardcase 700c x 28mm tyres.
Raceface carbon flat bars, Titec carbon barends, Raceface System stem, Bikehut carbon seatpost, SDG BelAir RL saddle, ODI lock on grips
Bontrager mudguards, Tortec rack. (Rack is a bit broken and held together with several cable ties, but it works! I had it on my previous commuter)

400 bucks.Very pleased I am.

I've got a roadrat, they're great . That looks like a nice spec too (apart from the halfords special seatpost )
One of the lads at work recently got a roadrat, I was quite pissed off to see another cotic in the bickeracks at work.
