Missed this one this year cos it clashed with Eurobike trade show. Just checked next year's date and it doesn't, so reckon I'm going to have to enter it. Can't wait

I can't get a response from www.kielder100.co.uk.

Is it just me?

Yes, it's just you. Different brakes next year. Ones that don't break when you crash after 50 miles. Grrr... Great event by the way, unfinshed business, so I'll be going back

Right, website access gained, entry paid for - sorted!

I've been told it's mostly fire-road so I'm sure my rigid single-speed will be just fine

"unfinshed business" Me too Juan, I will be making sure I  put a spanky new drivetrain on the bike before the event, hopefully removing the 40 miles of chainsuck I endured this year.

Really tempted with this although I don't see the mid life crisis category listed in the entries .

I did the BHF South Downs way last year which is 100 miles but my time was about 14.5 hours so by this years standards I would be dead last.

I have never been to Kielder, does anyone know what the terrain is like compared to the south downs?

The 100 course is a mix of undulating fire road - think sawtooth elevation profile - which this year was a tad draggy on account of the two weeks of rain before the event and man-made singletrack. It's not technically interesting, though it does have a 'big' sort of feel to it in parts. I got the impression that it was a harder going than the SDW, but it's hard to say how much of that was due to the conditions.

Mostly it's fireroad by the way, just the odd singletrack section to keep you awake

I think they're planning to make the cut-offs tighter next year as well, so if you were on course for 14.5 hours, you simply wouldn't finish.
