I have just purchased a new 2001 Specialized Stumptrumper which has very squeaky Judy Sl's on is this normal ???

yeah, shows the wiper seals are doing a good job though doesnt it. Put a touch of fork/motorbike oil on the stanchion to reduce the noise a bit

Or it could be the springs rubbing onthe inside of the stanchios - in which case put a bit of shrink wrap around the bottom about an inch fromthe bottomof the springs.

Lift up your xxx seals and saturate the foam rings with the same weight oil that is in the forks.
You can also use pace fork grease on the stanchions, this is ok, but it picks up a bit of dirt from
the trail. I have some 2001 judy race, and they only sqeak when I let the foam rings get dry.
The best way to keep them saturated is to store your bike upside down, sounds crazy, but it works.
