Anyone had problems with the crowns on Marzocchi forks(cryofit not bolt) creaking, especially under braking, and other than replacement has anyone figured out how to stop it?

 I was wondering what that noise was. It's been driving me mad for a while now, and I've stripped and cleaned everything, without any success.

 never had any problems or noises from my Marzocchi forks, on either of my bikes. Might be worth having a competent dealer check it out for safety's sake.

 tim d had to send his wedges back to windwaves for them to replace the whole upper bit on his becasue of the creaking.
i think it took about a month becasue windwave were having probs getting parts or something

Windwave say it isn't a safety issue, just a noise, and it's not a warranty thing, just like creaky bars aren't warranty!

 my bolted ones do it too... it's not just cryofit it seems.

personally i'd just get some loctite and pour a bit around the joint, if theres any gaps it'll seep in and fill them, making fork quiet.

 Yeah, my mate's Atom 80's crown creaks like crazy - the 1st time it started happening he got a warranty replacement, now he just puts up with it. Quite scary movement & creaking if you test it by holding the wheel between your legs & try & turn the bars though!

I solved all creaking by simply buying
Pace. My evo3's are silent as they're always broken.

i'm a pro level bodger, if zipties can't help, loctite can :-) nah, it's good in both situations iv'e mentioned it.

Way ahead of you there mate - I choose loctite and zipties over handcuffs and gaffer tape all the time.

who told you it wasn't warranty?? i'm pretty sure its the uppers unbonding from the crown or something.

I have a feeling cryofit crowns aren't bonded, but rely on the hole in the crown being smaller than the stanchion, so it's like being bolted in. They are fitted by cooling the stanchions so that they contract to fit (and possibly some heating of the crown) so that when they return to a normal temperature they are firmly wedged in place.

yeah, i think thats pretty much it, but they'd have to put something in to help bond it/keep it silent.
as for the m-arches they're effectively a fancy ass bolt on arch, you undo the brake bosses and you can remove the arch by hand, mines not attached with a good load of halfords threadlock and bonded together rather well.

yeah, that's probably sensible. I was never a fan of the M-arch. I think the one-piece lowers should be good though.

stanchions get dropped in liquid Nitrogen, crown gets heated. Bung em together, leve to cool before serving at room temperature with a dollop of steerer tube, pressed, not stirred.

 Yeah, was told by importers windwave that it's not a warranty issue, no safety implications, they'll bever separate, and the fork stilll does what it is designed to do!!
Thought it sounded like a copout to me!
