What are your opinions / past experiences on using a hope xc rear hub for DH. I weigh 11½ stone so I'm not exactly heavy. Do you think that it would survive for any length of time?
Yeah, it should be fine (I'm using an XT for DH, I weigh 20 stone, and I reckon the Hope XC is stronger than the XT). You might want to spend a bit more and get Bulbs, though.

thats my next purchasing target; my LBS is doing XC and Bulbs cheap at the moment.I also found out my LBS website address yesterday: http://www.thebikeshop.co.uk/
How Cunning.

I'll be running a bulb on the front Eion, but I cant really afford a rear bulb hub.
I think I'll give the XC's a go. Cheers for the advice lads.

FWIW James the hub that needs the strength is the rear. If your running an XC on the front you won't need a bulb on the front.
Dom, think about it - it's on a DH bike, so why might you want a Bulb on the front, but not on the rear? Bulb front/XC rear is what I currently run on my XC bike - works great.
I'd just go for a sport on the rear (just as strong, not quite as light, but a lot cheaper.
or is that(XC) what they call sports these days.(used to be ti-glyde)
I'm aware he might need a 20mm axle Eion ;-) - the point I was making was that it's the rear that needs the strength more than the front. We don't know what forks he's running so it's possible he's running normal QR.
I already have a bulb on another bike, this is being switched over onto my bullit. I will be running it with standard QR, as the fork is a 2002 Z1 Dropoff.
Cant u convert bulbs between QR and 20mm?
Yes. That's the point of getting them, IMO.
Has that always been?
What do i need for it?
 the conversion kit.
