Hi y'all, long time no post, i have a question that needs answering, ive been off the bike for a while, still have it tho, 2k m4 fsr xc. I want to get back in the saddle, but as i now live in a warm country with lots of mountains and tough stuff, i want a tough bike, not my flimsy flexy m4, i need loads of travel front and rear, discs, and a reasonable weighted steed, that dont wibble wobble on the climbs, any suggestions. It'll have to cope with the odd jump or two as well. ta
Thanks for that Mike, I forgot to mention that id prefer something now with a little less in the linkage dept, bit of a pain. was thinking of the Attack trail, any thoughts
just read your second thread Dave. I ride the Marin Wolf Ridge - Fox TALAS fork, adjustable travel, discs etc, and I love it. I do have the Vanilla RC shock (coil) on the back and I like the adjustability of that also. A couple of things though, high BB, which can be a good thing, the ride position can be a bit stretched out, although I have the small frame and have played around with stem lengths, seat position etc, and now have found a good position (I'm 5' 11"), so just about ok for the small frame. Also I have found that any little knocks/stones flying up can scratch.mark the frame. But overall I love my bike.
That is helpful, thanks, ive been reccommended the Attack trail acoupla times, are you saying its better to have the coil shock rather than the air then? is it as adjustable? Im 5.9 and ride a medium spesh, by the way youre talking it would seem that ill need a small attack trail.
I got the small more by accident but now I prefer the riding position on it. With the Attack trail you are getting the TALAS (great fork) RLC. plus I think the Hope C2's ?
What I suggest is you get a test ride on both the 15 and the 17.5 and see which you prefer. My seatpost is up to the max most of thetime, but with the smaller frame I have loads of standover height. Plus do you prefer black or white?
Hope M4s, prefer black if im honest, all mean n moody like :-). I'll give em a go, im in the uk soon, gotta mate whose offered me a test ride so ill take it from there, seems to have n=been a good choice of bike tho.

Dave - I know what it is like to be off the saddle for a while. I hadn't ridden my old Rift Zone for about 1 year when I thought I had better get back out on it, started enjoying biking again went to a bike shop saw the new TARA bikes, they gave me a good price for my old bike and now I am on my wolf ridge as often as possible - breathed new life and enthusaism into my biking - go for it!
its about that for me actually, my mate and i were training for the transalp a year and a half ago when he was injured and couldnt ride anymore, i gave up too, didnt seem much point without a training partner, silly, but true.
now, living where i do, it seems ridiculous not to ride, especially as i put up with epping forest in the winter for so long.
Dave, After reading up here and other websites I’ve also gone for a Wolfridge 17.5". I've had it for three months now. My whole approach to riding has changed , I go fast everywhere. One downside to begin with was that it tempted me to go fast before I had mastered it, and then the bugger threw me off, six times on one ride !!!!!
