summers over and im slipping every where, could anyone please advise of a good DH tyre for roots and mud and bananas and anything else slippy (cant be bigger than 2.3 apperently cause of Jr T on a 03 stinky) someone has already told me about intense and maxis but dont know which models, please help as i need to order them so they can turn up for the week end.
both Intense and Maxxis make great tyres - personally I've been using 2.25 Michelin Comp 24's lovely grip in everything form dry dusty stuff to loamy mud (not deep mud) very grippy over roots though! you do pay through the nose for the priveledge though !
that aside I've heard great things about MAxxis, Nokian and Intense tyres, panaracer DH's are sposed to be quite good too, not sure I could recomend any of those as 've not ridden them!
the Comp 24's fit in a Super T so should fit in a Jr T ok
thanks matt, thats alot more tyres to think about now, i suppose its trial and error with tyres, but would nice to hear what other people use. It must be the stinky frame that cant have bigger than 2.3's on it(or it might just be a old wives tale). Ive got the tioga dh tyres that came with the bike, they were alright while it was dry.
Best to actually try the tyre in the frame as the sizes between manufactorers vary & the eventual width also depends on what rim you've mounted it on. I bought some 2.5" maxxis high rollers in a very wet & muddy morzine last year & they were superb. Didnt seem to be much wider than a 2.3" tioga.
