I'm fed up with looking! Can I get some advice on a decent trainer-about £120 ish that works well and will last. I'm looking to do a couple of half hour sessions a week and think I will need an adjuster on the bars. Any advice welcome.

You'll have read all the general stuff about it being boring, the need for a fan, tv etc, so I'll skip past that.

If you're only intending to use it for 30mins x 2 per week, then either get a spare wheel, cassette and slick tyre or a rim mounted roller, othewise the hassle of swapping tyres means that you'll either not go out riding on a weekend, or you'll not bother with the trainer.

I have a taxc swing, and wouldn't recomend it. Yes, it works (or used to), has a strong magnet, but it is virtually impossible to assemble and you need to buy an adapter (£10) for it to work properly with most mtb slicks. The assembly bit is in theory a one off, but honestly if they had tried to design the mount to make it hard to get to the bolts they couldn't have done a better job. Also, one turn too many on the adjuster wheel and you need to take it to pieces to reassemble. I actually broke mine during one of the re-assemblies and haven't got round to fixing it. Ia also found the handlebar mount awkward, it's not quick release, and it didn't clamp tight enough not to slip when you tried altering the resistance.

So, that's a non recomendation, others may be along later, or look in the reviews bit.
