im really thinking of getting an inbredframe in steel but am not sure if it will be strong enough as im 17.5 stone ! has anyone ridden one or got one who can give me an idea as to what its like ? ive read the reviews but none say if its suitable for heavier lads. if not can anyone suggest a good hardtail frame for around 300 quid that would be suitable for xc riding please
i am 16 stone mate and the inbred is wonderful, i even put my 2year old son on the back of it at times, gets a bit twitchy then but! i am into aggressive xc and it suits well. at 6' the 16" frame with 80mm stem are the perfect combination, really agile and quick on the trails! freeride type rims, hope xc hubs, hope minis and a nice plush fox vanilla fork up front!
I'm genrally against inbreeding as it results in a reduced gene pool which can lead to mental retardation and deformites in later generations. But hey whatever floats your boat.
cheers opinions does it get a bit flexy at all as this is the reason im getting rid of my full suss giant frame as its to flexy with all the bearings and stuff . i just want somthing that i can tell what the back wheel is doing
I love mine but I don't weigh that much - about 13.5 stone with a full camelbak.
I've a 16" with an 80mm stem and I'm only 5'9"! At 6' you should be on the 18" at least!
If you want to find out more, email brant@on-one.co.uk and ask him, he designed the frame after all! Cromo steel is very strong so I'd be surprised if there was a problem.
just e-mailed brant (who is a very helpful chap by the way)and i have ordered an 18" inbred aswell as the on one seatpostand seatclamp !! well excited does anyone know the swing of the front mech, i know its 28.6 but is it top pull top swing or what?? also can you run gear cables WITHOUT full lenght outers??
I've never even been on Singletrack website and wouldn't have a clue how to post a photo of my bike on the net. Does that mean someone is going to come round and demand my Inbred be returned?
Oh, well, I'll have to buy that Cotic Soul and Pace RC40!!!!!!!!
The Enduro does not sink to the Inbred's level on STW cos they don't like anything with more than 4" travel :). The BBs too low and the red stripe on the 'top tube' (2002 Expert) looks like shite. The seat QR has lever bent, and the shock needs a pad to protect it from the post- oh, and I've finally started noticing that clattering of the rear mech folk go on about. Other than that, it's doing very well for itself with the right length stem. It's still my perfect bike. It is, thankfully, becoming the new Marin FRS in these parts.
And, yes, I've nailed the water bars using the berm method. My seatpost, however, is getting more and more bent...
I'm 6' and ride an 18" Tinbred, however I've just picked up a 16" SS Inbred on Ebay with the idea of it being a bike for the wife, Sod that!!!!! With the 400mm Planet X seatpost almost to the minimum line it feels superb. With an 80mm stem and Inbred rigid forks the handling is awesome. I now truly understand Mr Richards design brief.
So I suppose if it feels right ride whatever size Inbred you want!!!!!
