Help required. Has any one out there upgraded their 2000 Marin Eastpeak. The original bike comes with 'v'brakes, and my wheels are currently worn out. What do I need to upgade to discs. ie recomended manufacturer, replacement front forks (current ones do not have the eyelets) and mount adapters required for the rear swing arm. Many thanks SNP

Hello Simon
Are you sure it's a Y2k Eastpeak??
Mine is and it came with Manitou SX forks which had the disk mounts and the swingarm has a couple of holes that a mount bolts into.
I went for Hope XC hubs front and rear with Mavic rims..Hope Mini brakes...I know some don't like em but they have been great up to now..I have Mono Minis on my Inbred which are even better..
If yours doesn't (and it sounds like an earlier model than the 2000, East Peaks date back to '98) then a call to ATB Sales, Marins importers, will net you a reconditioned swingarm, complete with disc mounts.
Slap on a set of Marzocchi MX Comps (which you will fine miles better than the forks you have now) any you have disc mounts front and rear.

Now you just need disc wheels, and the brakes themselves.
You might well note this isn't a cheap route......

I had exactly the same idea - but when I looked at the costs for new fork, needed new hubs as not disk compatible and then the cost of hopes.

Discussed it with my LBS and they took it as a trade in for a new East Peak with Hopes on. In the end cost was not that much different and I ended up with a new bike
