Ok, Decision time, do i go for a 203mm front disc? or 185mm front disc? I am about 12.5 stone fully kitted :p They r going to be used with a set of Juicy carbon as well.
What you reckon? i am going to be riding som alpine trails etc also.
righto :p thats a 185mm front and 165,, rear then. Now i just have to find out if the Juicy calliper is compatible with Mavic Crossmax SL (i heard they are not), otherwise i am going to have to sell the crossmax and build a slightly heavier CK wheelset :(
I ride hayes, I started with two 6", I went to 8" front and 6" rear, I'm now on 8" front and 7" rear and it's the best combination. I think, I might try 7" front and 6" rear. All V-cut hayes rotors btw.
going 185 front 165 rear. Waiting for a response from Fisher with regards to the clearance issue. Dunno if it's been solved on the '06 range and/or on the Carbons.
"We did, however, have a compatibility issue with our Avid Juicy Seven Disc Brake caliper just barely contacting the spokes of our front wheel. Although the wheels were designed before the Juicy Sevens, we don't recommend running this combination."
i agree with K2 - the compatability issues in the review was with a 160 rotor, so the 185 setup should, in theory, be clearance free.
I run 185 C2's and Julies without any real problems, 16.5stone kitted out with heavy bikes, so 185 is perfect maybe a tad of over kill but naught wrong with that.
Allowing for the clearance issues though, 200 would improve your odds on no contact.
If it's a 6bolt Disk you'll get away with 0.5mm's area of washers, if thats enough ??
:p apparently washers will fix it. I just have to wait for the fisher rep to get back to me. HE's finding out what issues there are witht he '06 range.
Once he confirms either way, then i'll start thinking about a solution or another brake.
