what is the thinking on these, I was thinking of getitng me an inbred, but I don't htink it will come in budget with all the kit I want. the avalanche has the hydraulic discs I want, but how are the forks? (Rock Shock Duke XC air, adjustable rebound 100mm travel.)

comes to 599 on CRC which seems an ok price, any other suggestions? I will be spending around in total, up to 800 tops but want crank bros pedals on there, which will cost a touch more (egg beaters at £32)

I hate SRAm. After using it for the 2412, I want to steer clear of sram. The amount of accidental shifts during that race, the shifting was nothing like as smooth as when I had shimano, that's put me off SRAM :)

Still a damn good bike, just dump the shifter and rear mech on e-bay.

cracking bike with full shimano ... and there on special offer atm at supplier ... we are knocking them out at work for 750 with crankbrothers candys and xt lx mix groupset with kinesis tubing really nice riding bike !

Mike really, just put new cable and a rollamagic ( not sure about that, but cut the cable to short ), wheels really errrr loose but random on the rear mech.

My front one, barely works though, it's a I-drive / lack of maintenance I never use it deal.


You right, the back end was wandering, rear hub had come abit loose, still got to sort though.

( Only Sram Attack + LX Mech, and Deore + Deore front mechs, not X7 )

wouldnt put a turative stylo on, the GXP BB's are very poor.. but it works ok not as stiff as a hollow tech2 LX crank IMO

i'd change the forks on that build, the dukes are an older model (discontinued) and were never that good anyway.

that giant is looking sexy, but what does it weigh? Don't want to be lugging anything too heavy round as 1.I'm flying air malaysia with a 20kg baggage allowange and 2. its not so fast!

Giant is about 29lb ish I think. (When I picked up one it was noticeably lighter than my reign at 32lb)
