Hi guys,

I'm going to be getting new wheels soon as my front wheel has been replaced by a 2ndhand ProMax wheel and my rear is very very buckled.

Any way has anyone used Hope Pro2 hubs or Mavic EX729 rims?

I'm going to get them built by Merlin as I've heard they're very good and also they're the cheapest for this wheelbuild I've found.
Has anyone got anything else to add about Merlin?
Or any other suggestions.

I have 729 rims on hope xc, bulb, pro 2 and CK
fantastic rims and they never go out of true.
Aint had any 729s from merlin but they built me a nice set of 321s on xt 6 months ago and they are fine.

I know Stiff are very good for wheelsets.

I am considering getting XM321 with Pro 2's for my XTC SX, as both my front and back wheel are knackered/buckled.

Ive got black ex729s on a bulb front and an xc rear with silver spokes and hubs.pretty much a bomb proof wheelset and also look stunning (when clean!)you wont go wrong with them.

Got a EX729 on the rear of the HT, I've managed to buckle it aswell, came from Merlin but the spokes where very slack, Merlin aren't what they used to be.

Compared to the WTB rim, that kept bending and snapping spokes every bloody ride, it's doing fine.

What about CRC has anyone bought custom wheels from them?

Paul got them from there, think they where a better build than recent Merlin builds and they arrived in 2days, not 7+.

Ive got all my wheels from CRC. Always quick to deliver, as speced and true as a can be.
Just ordered 321 on ProII, I'll let you know how long it takes to arrive.

Expensive Hub and a very cheap Rim there mate, coulda specced a lighter and stronger / wider rim mate.

DT swiss 5.1 XC/FR ?

have a bulb on ex729 from crc and it's still true after 2 years of 'use'.

the rear 729 on king was built by a local shop, good build but not as tight as the crc build.

DT Swiss 5.1's on Hope Pro 2's, will be considered if I get my new Bike or Frame sometime soon.

So you reckon CRC is a better bet than Merlin then?

Mavic 819 or DT5.1s, which are best, are the DTs tubeless compatible ?

Spokes 1.8-2mm double butted are they enough for rocky all mountain shit?

WOW, ordered my wheel from CRC yesterday about 11:00am and it arrived today !!!! Appears True and quality looks good.
