I have a massive cranium. Huge.

Can anyone suggest a good helmet for those of us with big heads?

My current lid is perched on top of my head and looks stupid.

Uh, Giro Havoc? Copes with my enormous swede.

I have a 60 head

E2 in L/XL also - my head size is even bigger than Kato's - I/m also the only person the tack shop sold a "5" to - should fit

I understand that some US helmets come in huge - look on Us website perhaps Speedgoat.com

Met do a range of specifically large helmets, the Testagrossa springs to mind, think they go up to 64ish.

I have a mate with a very big head. He reckoned only the Met hats were big enough for his enormous brain holder.

I have a friend with a very big head and I have found that large doses of sarcasasm helps to keep his feet on the ground. ;-)

Have you tried the Giro Hex (I have a bountiful bonce and mine fits with room to spare!) or a Specialised Instinct (recommended when I last looked)?

CyclesUK.com were doing the Hex (RRP£50) for £35 incl. P&P when I got it about 6 weeks ago and I think they still are. A steal at that price; light, very comfortable, great venting, good coverage, excellent locking fit system and cool in the grey/blue colour!!

WHat are those Hex's like chap? I was thinking of replacing my E2 with a Xen, but the Hex is similar, but cheaper no?

Yep huge and weird shaped head here aswell, kills me on the top front bit due to my heads squareness.

I had to get the biggest helmet I could afford then cut away a few mm's of Foam to make it actually comfortable ish.

Giro Atmos for me (62cm-ish - I'm very clever you know). The "Roc Loc" system makes it fit, however weird your noggin's shaped (mine's long 'n' narrow). "Roc Loc" seems to be used on most of the decent Giro range, so I'm not just saying Atmos. I never wore a lid before - they all just wobbled about on top of my head or had about a hands-width of space on either side. Recommended!

You cut the polystyrene away? That would comprimise the strength of the helmet.

Yep, the E2 fits my big bonce. HAve heard good things about the Testagrossa too, but Met helmets don't fit the shape of my head that well.

The answer? Go to a decent bike shop and try some on!

A large Giro Havoc for me too, it was the only one of about 4 brands that I tried on in Halfords (Giro, Met, Bell and something else) that was big enough.
