
But you accept the extra weight on your prophet because the full sus adds to your riding experience and in the same way the Rohloff hub adds to your riding experience , you really have to try it to realise how good it is to be able to change gear while not moving pedalling , last year about 20 of us missed a sharp left turn while riding down a steep hill , I changed about 12 gears and pedalled back up hill and into the turn off , everybody else had to get off and push or pick the bike up and pedal with their hands to change into a low gear. That's an extreme example but there really are many less extreme situations where it really can be an advantage and makes up for the extra weight. I don't know why but my Thorn gets better traction while climbing and under braking than anything else I own including a Giant NRS , dont ask me how or why but it just does and it feels safer descending as well . The only negative is that it makes it very hard to swap between Rohloff and ordinary gears because you tend to forget and try to change a load of gears at once which Sram and Shimano don't like much.
