Anyone doing long distance events on one?
What kind of riding are you using it for?

Any info much appreciated.

Cant you just do the long term demo offer they do and find out for yourself. I thought you could use one for 6months then hand it back.

I wonder how many people have taken up that offer and what the rules are. Must have to pay for it then justify asking for your money back after 6 months.

Havent read any bad reports on them tbh. Not sure about how the frame rides though.

I've had mine for nearly 2 years now and have done a merida 100 on it and the Isle of Man end to end which is about 75k and I have to say while I love riding it I think I'm faster on my other bikes. I've used it in a few local races and again my results seem worse. That said I have done some test times round shortish 20min courses and it has been quicker. I think the weight 28lbs mine and possibly slightly less efficiency in the low gears really catches up with you at Builth Wells merida when you can be climbing for 20 mins or more at a time but also this years merida was run in 30+ degree temperature and with a dry course , had it been cold and wet the Raven may well have had the upper hand.

Blimey, my Prophet is down to 29.5lb now and that has 140mm travel frt & back ;-)

iirc you buy the bike for 2k then if you not happy give it back within 100 days for a refund.

But you accept the extra weight on your prophet because the full sus adds to your riding experience and in the same way the Rohloff hub adds to your riding experience , you really have to try it to realise how good it is to be able to change gear while not moving pedalling , last year about 20 of us missed a sharp left turn while riding down a steep hill , I changed about 12 gears and pedalled back up hill and into the turn off , everybody else had to get off and push or pick the bike up and pedal with their hands to change into a low gear. That's an extreme example but there really are many less extreme situations where it really can be an advantage and makes up for the extra weight. I don't know why but my Thorn gets better traction while climbing and under braking than anything else I own including a Giant NRS , dont ask me how or why but it just does and it feels safer descending as well . The only negative is that it makes it very hard to swap between Rohloff and ordinary gears because you tend to forget and try to change a load of gears at once which Sram and Shimano don't like much.

Frame's too expensive - extra £100 or so gets you a custom job, whatever you like. 29er, rack mounts, S&S couplings, Rohloff dropouts and an Afrika Korps camouflage paint job, that'll do nicely...

You could look at putting a Soul together with a Rohloff rear. It's been done before. Take a look here and look at frame 211. It look's like a good job from the snaps. Cy may be able to put you in contact with the guy or offer some pointers. If you don't like the Rohloff you could always swap back to conventional gears and have a blast.
