Santa's been early & Ive got a Garmin Edge 305 to help try & improve my fitness over the winter. All its features are great but there's bugger all mapping with it - until you ride a route that is.

Looked at memory map & Garmins own but they're hugely expensive - does anyone have any recommendations?

Buy a more expensive GPS, then cost-karma will be restored.

That or:

o Get a hooky copy of software (not recommended).

o Buy a small, but useful map area with MM or Tracklogs.

o Maybe try people like Fugawi also, though price is likely to be the same.

Note that none of these put maps onto the GPS, they merly put routes onto there.

Remember that the Edge is designed as a training aid - not a navigational aid.

anquet maps work with the edge and you can buy it fairly cheapish

I know it's really a training aid & will be used as such. I just thought it'd be useful to be able to program a route in when riding away from mynusuall trails.

Will have a look at Anquet.

Cheers for your input.

Fugawi is pretty good value, espeocially if bought from somewhere like Globalpositioningsystems.co.uk.

It doesn't have quite the detail of Memory Map et.al. as it's 1:50,000 rather than 1:25,000 but it's still pretty good.

You can buy the whole GB OS Landranger maps for about £155, or one of the four sections for about £38 each and build up the whole of the set that way.

I use Fugawi with my Foretrex and find it a great tool and very easy to use.

Cheers guys - looks like Anquet South East @£25 or Fugawi Souther England @ £38. Of to see if I can find review for both.

It took me a few months to quite twig that Fugawi is not in fact Japanese software, but rather 'where the fugawi'.

Thanks - it'd probably have taken me years....

Temple games are knocking out Landranger single region on Memory map for £43 or a three region set for £96. Cheapest I found.

Try SportsDo on your phone, www.sportsdo.net, then you can see your route plotted on Google earth.

P.S. There's a trial version for free ! (By the way I don't work for them, but the software seems OK)
