I am having huge problems when trying to trackstand. Thankfully I am riding flat pedals so putting a foot down is easy, but I am going to put SPD's on my bike soon and would like some tips on how to trackstand without the slow mo comedy topple. Anyone out there who can help???
people use different techniques; some people slowly weight and unweight one pedal whilst pushing against the brakes. Others seem to jam the brakes on and wiggle the bike from side to side to balance. It's like bunny hopping in that it's extremely difficult to describe but one day you just do it, if you keep trying!
Initially, find a (very) slight incline, turn into the slope so the front wheel is facing up the gradient and rock back and forth over the balance point covering the brake and applying pedal pressure where necessary. Best to use your favourite foot forwards, which for me, in snowboarding terms, is regular (left).
