Hi folks Yet another what bike whould I buy enquiry - but there seeem to be enough people on the forum happy to share experience!
Its an opportunity to by thanks to one of these cycle to work initiatives - which means I can get a bike of RRP up to about £800 (and save a few hundred on it..), but it has to be through a limited range of local shops - so, unlikely to be able to get a 2006 bargain unless they happen to be in those shops - but should be able to get them to order in any current model.
So, what's your recommendations? So far, been looking at
Rockhopper comp disc Genesis Altitude 1.0 Scott Scale 50
The Genesis reflects my strange liking for steel frames. The Genesis Core got a glowing review on MBUK, but anyone tried one of the Altitude's?
Just bought a spesh stumpjumper 2005 from evans for 799.99, saving 500 quid, they do the scheme you are talking about, i have moved from the rockhopper to the stumpy and there is no comparison, cant comment on the others though, evans have them on an 18 in frame in silver, they go like sh.. off a shovel.
Cheers Martin Wold love to get a stumpy, but the scheme is set up to only work with a couple of small local independents (or decathlon, of all things..), so can't go for the Evans deal.. But I'm hopeful that the rockhopper's more comparable to the stumpy now the M4 frame's trickled down?
i think Decathlon do some quality hardtails but the rockhopper is still a good bike, obviously not up to the stumpy though, whatever you buy youre going to save some cash, all the best and let us know how you get on.
