Planning a project bike.

Want a hardtail, but I dont want to go back to a ring bashing regular 7xxx/6xxx aluminium one.

Question is, what frame?

Should I get something Reynolds 853 (Rock Lobster)?

Should I get something 'Regular' Steel (Inbred)?

Is the Scandal really all that compliant?

I cant afford Titanium before anyone suggests it.

I was going to go for a Sanderson life or a Charge Duster. It's swings and roundabouts, just get one you like the look of best and FWIW I don't know why people discount aluminium, a well designed aluminium frame can be comfortable, my old 04 cindercone was a joy to ride and I used to ride it for 100km events.

I have looked at Charge Duster, not least as I now live (well am moving to) near Radstock.

Its a nice frame and nice tubing.

I quite like the 'skinny' look of steel frames.

Will check out the Sanderson Life.

The rock lobster and inbred are great bikes. My Pipedream Sirius is a fantastic ride and I've heard very good things about the ScandAl.

If you can get a look at a Sanderson in the flesh so to speak, they are beautifully machined and the rear end is rather sexy too. The 853 version is saving you 1/2lb over the regular steel frame.

the only problem i have with the bike is
the seat post keeps slipping down
my bike was built with most of the parts from my cannondale jekll as i upgraded

Use gripfill on post as this will keep it in place.

I *would* seriously consider an 853 Inbred as it looks a bargain, but he only has Pink left in the size I think I would need (18 inch).

I am at one with my masculinity, but riding a raging pink bike is a step too far, would be unlikely to be stolen though.

I agree. The occasional pink shirt maybe, but a bike would be a tad too far!
