Which do you think is best the new XTR shifters and rear mech or the latest Sram XO shifters and rear mech.I know you can use the new XTR shifters the same way you can use the Srams but what do you think.I know the Sram stuff is quite a bit dearer(unless someone knows where there's a good deal to be had on them)but is it worth it?
Got 2 sets of XO and can't fault it. Have only tried the new '07 XTR on a demo, and it agree it looks the business. Switched to XO beginning of last year after a dismal time with the last version of XTR (low normal) mech and shifters. Personally, not sure I'd say hands down, the feel is different, and that can be something of a personal thing. I enjoy the positive feel of my XO and it just has never given me any trouble once I've got it dialled in (which is more than I can say for the old XTR). It uses a 1:1 actuation ration, so has to pull the cable less to do the same job as Shimano 2:1, which may mean it is a little more resilient to muddy conditions and crap in the cable inner.
Wouldn't rule out giving the new XTR a spin in the future though...
Chain reaction have a reasonable deal on XO, and the shifters feature a new improved barrel adjuster compared to '06.
I just found X.0 didn't shift as crisply, and I constantly knocked it with my thumb, go stamping on the pedals out of a corner and I'd find it'd shifted from the big ring to the granny, so so so annoying!
The XTR shifts flawlessly every time, I use a top normal mech, and it's much lighter action than the X.0.
I have those pods as well and they are very nice indeed.
And there just gears it don't matter
Utter pikey bollocks. The difference between 2007 XTR and the lower model shifters is very noticable and they have features the lower spec shifters do not.
