okay i have a promblem , i only have £40 to spend on some shoes, i have been looking on chain reaction cycles and have found that road shoes are cheaper then the mtb shoes, so is there a real differnce between them ?
different cleat mounting thingys i think
also, no tread on the soles, and i'd have thought a lot less durable
roadie spds have no sole tread ... there not designed to walk in
the cleat sits very proud of the shoe and there generally VERY stiff
do not try mtbing in them
hmmm okay then, also the mtb shoes i have looking at dont ( ithink ) come with a cleat how much are they and is it one size fits all pedals or is there a sertan size ?
 cleats come with the pedals.
you are hoping to run clipless right?
yer i have my clipless pedals BUT i got them free from my freind so no cleat ....:S
you'll need to buy some cleats then, what pedals are they?
ummm what about these shoes http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=5120 plus they have cleats
look at the question at the bottom of the page, and more importantly, the reply
also, cleats are entirely dependant on the pedal, shimano work with shimano, but nothing else, same goes for time, crank bro's any other manufacturer
ha ha ha sorry i feel a tad silly, they are shimano pedals but the model has rubbed off. thanks very much for your help
shimano cleats are about a tenner, and can be had from crc
thankyou very much mate, probs get the Shimano M072 shoes with the Shimano Cleats SH51. thanks tom
 no worries
try SH56 cleats, they are multi release so your foot gets out in any direction. Loads better since I changed to these. Great shoe bargains on Wiggle as well

.jpg) I've got the Shimano M072 shoes and they are fine. The only problem I had with them was pins and needles in balls of my feet on a longish ride. I just changed the thin insoles to some slightly thicker walking boot ones I had kicking around.
Do you know that Shimano cycling shoes (and some others) tend to be sized smaller than normal shoes!. I have only ever fitted a size 42(8) in normal shoes, without exception, however the Shimano 42 was way too small, 43 was perfect. I don't think this is just me, because I've seen it often mentioned on ebay sales, where people have been selling shoes ie "Size 44 but more like a 43". I would go to your LBS and try Shimano on for sizing first.
