Looking to build up a steel hardtail for the winter & fancy an On-One.

Which would be better suited to general trail riding? I am far from a whippet & get nosebleeds if I'm more than 4 inches off the ground.

Yo, Nobby. I've got a slotty Inbred as my S/S but it can be made up to be geared.

I've got RC31 forks and MPH3 discs on it and I love it to bits!

I'm not ready for the whole SS thing yet - Got a few spares (forks, wheels, brakes etc) knocking around so thought it'd be nice to have a half-decent steel frame again.

As a sloth like muppet, I thought I'd not get on with S/S.............I'm sure I'm quicker than the geared hardtail!

Mine weighs just over 20lbs - seriously, I love riding this bike.

I think I'll go for the 456 meself - the new models are gonna be red like the slotty anyways. It'll probably suit he TALAS I've got in the garage better too.

It'd suit the TALAS very well. I have this strange aversion to putting suss forks on steel frames myself.

You might forgive me for my hack though - '92 Trek 930 with Quadra 21's. Run about 12mm of travel these days ;o)

My friend bought a new 456 frame to build up 6 months ago and loves it, looks very nice that powder blue. Not absolutely sure what forks he put on, but I think Fox 130mm. I think the frame sizing is a bit off standard so take their advice on that. I think, on their advice, he got a 16", where a 18" would have normally been standard for him.

I like the Blue ones but they're not doing them at the minute - any colour you want as long as it's red I'm afraid.

Any thoughts on the Trek 69er, Greenville? One of my customers is drooling over it.

hey Mike you cheeky bstd what's wrong with Fox TALAS forks. TALAS will be good on the 456 Nobby, assuming same geometry as 2006 powder blue frame.
