Hello,

 My front Mini brake has turned into a gutless wonder. It has no bite point and I like that in a front brake! So far I have bled it, replaced the pads and adjusted the lever reach to get more leverage on it but still its a bit rubbish. I also checked for leaks and there are none......

So anything I may have missed? I run a 180mm Aztec wavey disc but surely that isn't responsible for the poor performance? I know people say that minis can be like this but it was working pretty well up until the last few days! It does work, just not very well and not to my liking! The topic has been addressed here a few time I'm sure so if anyone has found a solution please let me know!

Whats the best way to degrease the rotor and pads? I have used meths in the past to clean the rotor. To be honest there shouldn't be any contamination on the pads or the rotor as nothing bad has been anywhere near them!

It has no bite point

Meaning when you pull the lever it touches or nearly touches the handlebar without stopping the wheel? If so the problem is the pistons need re-positioning in the caliper which can be done like this on Minis:

Remove the wheel and disc.

Pull your brake lever GENTLY so you can see the pistons moving in the caliper.When you let go of the lever the pistons retract back into the caliper slightly(resting position).Pull the lever again GENTLY so the pads move out again but this time a millimetre or two more than last time.Be careful not to pull the lever too much otherwise the pistons may pop out completely causing another headache.What this does is move the pistons out so when you replace the wheel and disc they will be closer to the disc so when you pull the brake lever it will bite sooner rather than nearer the bars.
