I am looking at buying a light(s) so I can continue riding in the evenings. Mostly it will be in the woods locally plus I am looking at doing one of the night time events, maybe Dawn- Dusk in 2008.I like the look of the http://www.bikemagic.com/news/article/mps/uan/5795/v/1 Exposure Maxx Light Enduro. My only caveat is the cost. Had hoped to get something around the £200 mark. Is that realistic even? This unit seems to be:1: small and light2: self contained (no cables) - not a pre requisite though3: you can choose 1 of 3 settings / brightness4: you can mount them on different bikes quite easily What others should I consider?Blackburn? Cateye EL700? Hope Vision? Light and motion Solo / Stella? Lupine Passublio? Nite Rider?
As always, your thoughts and considerations are sought.
Put a Joystick MAXX on your head £140, but extra batterys at £30 a pop to get your your run time up, use there charge station so you'll need 2. ( 1 to ride with, 1 to charge ).
With a head mounted light, you don't need much on the bars just something to light up the contact patch directly infront of your wheel.
Hope have a new one out Mid Jan, same output but I fear to large for your head £75 + batterys that'd do well on the bars for the money.
Would make it easier to explain, have you seen a L1's light output ??
A blue colour in a wide spot, with no light really spilling out to either side, so all or nothing, so it's like that your running 2 L1's focused on the same area, my previous HID would murder the L1, couldn't see it it's beam where as this HID the L1's quite noticeable.
And the Blue, well it's very blue not a white with a tint of blue, it's BLUE.
My cheap £11 LED torch is better, with 2 on I'm leaving him for dead and I can't ride behind him because of my shadow effect, where as I'm not noticing his light behind me.
Hope LED's here too. Good enough for normal winter riding & not too much of a flood. Epic & endurance options give great run times & they're down to around £160 on Merlin at the minute as they're deducting VAT at the checkout.
You might need something up top too but there are loads of cree led torches out there that'll suffice from dirt cheap on fleabay to £38 for the top end Fenix jobbie.
