what do people think of this light? I assume it will be similar as one LED of those LED lights that they have had for a while. I'm wanting a brighter light for my commuting but not wanting cables and batteries etc to me this appears to be like the joystick but cheaper or should i look at one of those fenix lights and strap it to the bars or something like that (bearing in mind the fenix is only saving £17 after getting batteries and charger etc) ?
as soon as its available ill be getting one as a"stashed in the back of my pack oh shit its nearly dark and we still have ten miles to go"light. ive already got an energizer 4 AA battery charger with nmh batterys that charge in 15 mins and can be used with a car fag lighter.
if i started proper night riding again id get the 4 led hope.
as a commuting light id have thought it would be ideal.
heres a link to the charger if its any use to you..
Looks interesting. Does anybody know what the beam spread is like? I've got the hope twin led bar-mounted but am also looking for something to go on the helmet for a more focussed light - was looking at the exposure joystick but it's a bit pricey. If the hope single is more focused than the twin then I'll definately be after one.
Errmm same output as the Joystick Maxx and same LED so likely very similar spot pattern, too big for head mounting, 240lumen output, you'll need 4xAA's + Charger or throw away £1 for a pack of 4 alkalines from Poundland to get you started.
Strap one of http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.1446 to your head, 150lumen, torch + batterys + charger all in for @£20, it's what I'm using.
Had the 1 LED on order for a while now. Supposed to be in on the 14th Jan but as it's Hope, that could mean 2008, 2009 or 2010... Having spoken to hope, the 1LED also comes with a helmet mount so works out a better deal for me over the Exposure (being able to charge is nice but I already have loads of rechargeable AA's)
Dyl, yes I am slightly concerned about having a helmet mounted periscope but if it's comedy sized I shall send it back (no fooker got the Exposure Joysticks in stock anyway).
Only other option, price wise for me (not attempting build your own) would be the Superstar LED light but that isn't out yet either.
It'll be summer by the time I get sorted at this rate...
Alx, I've started using one of THESE as a helmet lamp in addition to my Hope LED's. It's got a decent spot & good depth and will run for 2.5 hours on 2x 2700mah AA rechargables.
trex, speeds in Bromsgrove havethe joystick maxx's in stock.
Dylan, that superstar one will be arriving thursday...spoke to the guys from Fonarick direct in december, they are currently getting me the first one in the country for the puffer this weekend, so superstar should have them shortly...
It's the same as the hope 4 led model from the pics I had emailed. ( which I deleted about 15 mins ago too!) 3 settings, 1000, 500, 250 lumens iirc. On 1000lumens with a standard lumicycle battery = 4 hours burn.
As long as the price is reasonible, I'll get me one of them, £25 for a 8 Rechargeable 3000Mah AA's + charger, 2 x 4 battery holders from maplins, some wire some soldering and cheap as chips
( Don't like specific made batterys they've let me down to much )
