ive got a Trek 6000 which came with a Bontrager Sport seat which has very little padding, my car is broke at the moment so im using my bike to get to work and back, and as such id like to improve comfort a bit if i can
ive been looking at the Fizik Gobi XM, or the Bel Air RL or maybe the Ti Fly C
when my Trek was reviewed in WMB last year, one thing they marked it down on was riding comfort, its not *too* bad but id like it to improve if i can, thinking of replacing the seat post aswell with maybe a carbon one, as they are supposed to be slightly better for comfort are they not ?.....what about titanium ?
I've had a little spin on a Gobi, and it was fine, but not long enough to pass comment. I've had several Bel-Airs and a Ti Fly C. Brilliant saddles, the BelAir is a little more comfy but if you spend a bit of time setting up the Ti FlyC it's almost as comfy but far lighter if that's your thing.
Most people with a Gobi seem to like it. I have one on my Prophet and I'm 90% happy with it (been using it about two years). It is on the narrow side if you like that sort of thing. I tried the Gobi on my hardtail however and it was just too painful around Dalby, so I've bought one of these which is a little wider and seems a bit more comfortable on my hardtail than the Gobi.
I've got a Gobi and I must say for me it's the most comftable saddle I've owned. However as DK has said saddles are personnal, one mans sofa like comfiness is another mans razorblade.
I've heard good things about Belairs and have riddenon one for a short period, the initial impression being that it is good 'n' comfy. The added advantage is that it's not expensive.
Try the saddle first before splashing out on a carbon seat post though, something with titanium rails can remove a reasonable amount of buzz.
I have just fitted a charge spoon to my bike. It seems to be quite a nice shape for me but the proof will be after 3-4hrs in the saddle.
Anyhow, the one thing i was surprised about was the rails are WHITE!!!. Not such a problem but i pride myself on the low impact look of my bike. Its either Ti grey or black. Well the white rails stand out a mile now

They're silver on both of mine - you must have got the 'pimped' version
Until you know a saddle that suits you, there isn't a lot of point dropping money on a Ti one, as if I am correct, then it is a weight saving / strengthening measure as a pose to a comfort consideration.
