Hello, just signed up to this site as I need more things to fill the tiny pieces of spare time that I have and thought this would be relevant.
I cycle often enough but would love to do it more often and to have some company when doing it would be nice once in a while. done the coast 2 coast last year and this year will be doing the Hadrians Way on one of two bikes, my trusty old rat bike a Scott, nice and light and with huge tyres, or my more reliable Giant with its fancy hydraulic brakes, purely for showing off those things, check out how quickly I can throw myself over these here bars!
Any way I was supposed to be saying hello, so, er hello!
They're the way forward. They're like your regular 6" rotors(discs) but with adapters you can get 12" for additional stopping power. For XC riding like you're doing you really should invest in them.
well you know the very first mountain bike I ever got was something crap like a Raleigh mustang or something, it had the widest bars ever and the heaviest wheels and frame imaginable. And yes I trashed it, but it got me all over the place and it stopped too, and I'm sure you can imagine what the brakes were like in those days. All this fancy technology is nice, but having the balls to do it in the first place is even better.
I really don't invest in anything, I got both my bikes for free and rarely spend money on them. I am a father and on a low income, I spent too much time playing on my bike and not enough studying!
