Hi, I'm thinking off using bolt skewers instead of quick release on my new build. Anyone got any recommendations? I've only ever used QR. They'd be on an XC hardtail. Preferably blue or silver.

I was looking at the planet-X ones but the CRC reviews aren't great. (I realize the contributers to CRC are among the strongest, most bolt snappingly, don't know their own strength, wrench monkeys in the whole universe).

Will a bolt on skewer scratch the paint more? Are they a pain in the field?

Why do you want to use bolt skewers, they do not generate the clamping force of QR's. I wouldn't want to take on anything too rocky with them. Unless its for a commuter in which case they can keep thieving hands off your wheels.

Really? I'd assumed they'd generate more clamping force...I ride some slightly rocky stuff, but no big drops or jumps, mostly fields and pretty smooth trails.

I just don't like the look of QRs and thought bolts might be cheaper and lighter.
