I am building a bike out of bits lying around and second hand parts and have some XTR M960 cranks with middleburn chain rings, are these compatible with a Sram pg-990 cassette?

I am also looking for Derailleur's front and rear and shifters what do I need to buy?

Yes they will be, and you can buy anything really, but SRAM / Shimano mechs and shifters are not cross compatable unless they are specified as such.

The XTR/Middleburn combination is useless - send them to me and I'll send you a good old reliable Deore as a replacement
