balls, i just replied to this, clearly i didn't click "post"
it is too high, i run about 30 and it feels good.
but i wouldn't want one as a rear tyre, only front

By whom indeed, where does that come from? I use about 2bar (30psi).

it is indeed the recommended tyre pressure from the Continental Site, USTs are quoted at 45

When i pump them up, i put about 40psi in them. This is obviously the correct pressure for all rider weights, in all terrains, in all conditions, with all riding styles . I normally find that they are down to about 25 psi before i notice they are feeling odd and need more air in them.

I just wish the UST didnt leak worse than non UST tyres....every time i pump them up i notice sealent leaking from the sidewalls. They aint bad tyres though. tough as old boots and where only changed when the clay started saturating here in the chilterns. 40 psi is what i use in them and thats hard.. 124 kg rider

124kg! That's more than my wife and I together; fully clothed and wearing 5:10s.
|
 |
 124kg? Isn't that about 240lbs?

Its 19 and a half stone.... yeah yeah..waiting for the fat bastard jokes. i ride 3 times a week around the chilterns but I am a big guy. I have to pick my components carefully... I use the force of gravity mate...I may huff and puff uphill but you better get the hell outta my way downhill. Fitness through fatness!

Andy, I'm getting to 19stone and the more I diet the nearer I get I find with tyres like these, you've got to run them hard or the knob's deform into the carcass then your riding around with slicks. Not 50 though. Needs to be harder for heavier riders to stop the above effect ofcourse.

I am using trailrakers F and IRC mythos R tubeless on my enduro on mavic rims and they are up at 40 -44 psi depending on the mud / frost...fire xc front and continental mountain king r in summer On the hardcore hardtail i cannot use tubeless and the mavic 24 spoke rims flex a lot because of the lack of suspension due to my weight . I use fat tyres intense system 4's f maxis advantage rear in summer and cinder rear and advantage front in the winter i get away with a tad less than 40 psi with these due to the hugeness of the carcass. i also use 36 spoke sunringle mtx rims on hope xc hubs. still have not gone the 20mm bolt through because of the costs involved in buying 2 sets of forks and wheels. I swap all these components between both s-works 06 enduro and armadillo hardtail frames.. Cheers errrm yess or dyl.....

I run a 29" wheel on the front with a fat 2.35 tyre gives me the float required over rocky stuff for my extra weight, works GREAT, 100mm of travel which I don't really feel working which I prefer. On the rear I find the Maxxis Advantage 2.1 XC 70a compound, rolls well and copes with everything, have to run it real hard though, class all round tyre thats near silent on the roads. I run 36spokes and single gauge for max stiffness to, it all helps, not like weights a issue.

Hehehe..miss that extra sausage and bacons slice in the morning and have a clear out that drops about 2k off the load.. Weight weenie i aint..... 29.er on the front?...thats an idea. i have bashed a couple of my bike setups on my gallery.. the bar ends where a great idea to stop me wandering about on the climbs but i ripped the bolts out of them with the effort. the tubeless on the hardtail scared the life out of me a few times where i was a tad agressive on the corners and ripped the tyres from the rim but that was a fantastic xc setup for me. As you can guess my LBS loves me..I have an account and they invite me on rides and to thier curry nights just so I grind more components..good way to beat the credit crunch huh? cheers

Never even considered tubeless, just sounds stupid to me. 29er front works well, wouldn't go back to normal 26er put it that way, roots and rocks just feel much smaller as you hit them, much better for a heavy rider, less of a over the bars feeling. I don't damage many parts, guess I'm lucky there, we'll see in a few years though as my weight increases.

Tubeless is great..I have had one puncture using them in about 2 years..that was a split using very light non ust tyres as tubeless ( fire xc folding ) I can get away with it with the Conti Mountain king on the hardtail and thats never come off the rim. I prefer it TBH..but some people dont get on with it when they use them..gotta try everything once . ( always use sealant though)

In 2 1/2 years, I've had 3 punctures all at the same time and thats it. I'm far too lazy, like the extra layer of rubber in my wheels aswell. Never had a pinch flat either so it's all good, used to run super lower pressure but these days riding with really hard pressure, don't know why.

Just fitted a mountain king 2.2 as a front tyre. 1st impressions are that its narrow for its stated size. 2.1 bonty ACX looks as big if not bigger. I am not one who goes in for changing tyres like my underpants like others but so far it has worked acceptably well on all surfaces other than sheet ice. It left me with 2 bruised hips on ice so i wouldnt recommend it for that. Only thing that worries me is that i always avoided the Verts because the knobs wouldntgrip rock if your life depended on it. At the moment i can accept that as everything is slippy. A little worried that these also will struggle to grip lakes rock

I recently popped into my LBS to replace the awful Speedkings that came with my new bike. Alls they had in that was 2.35 and chunky was a Panaracer Rampage. Normally I wouldn't buy Panaracer tyres but it was all they had and they were only £20 each; I have to say that I am mightily impressed, great tyre for the rocky stuff and rolls well. Recommended.

Bloody excellent tyres..Cinder..Fire XC..TrailRaker, Rampage I cannot believe how long they last TBH..In fact someties i wish that they would rip or something just so I can give mwy wife physical proof that I need to go buy another tyre. In the right situation the can be some of the best all round , lightest and cheapest tyres on the market along with Maxxis ( is slightly anal with tyres since a bad choice left me with a broken shoulder)
