Swine Flu Pt 2
WTF is going on?

Just had a chat with a mate of mine who has the same poxy summer cold as me.  His mrs nagged him into ringing their GP because of what she's been reading/hearing/seeing in news articles.

After 3 minutes on the phone they've decided he must have swine flu because he has:

  • A dry Cough.
  • Bit of a temperature.
  • Aching joints.
  • Recurring headache.

They don't want him to go in as they've been told it's no longer necessary to swab people for confirmation and he should just rest & take some paracetamol until symptoms desist.

Is it me or is that just a common cold?  No wonder the so-called confirmed figures for the UK are rocketing up and with the help of the media I reckon there'll be a panic before long.

Perhaps it's a way of keeping the Gov't out of the headlines or they even want us to think we're all gonna die right up until they save us all with a miracle cure?  Not normally into conspiracies but this does seem ludicrous.

That makes complete sense in the current climate.  Mountain/molehill.

I like the way anyone who dies from swineflu is reported in big headings.  Then in the subtext the person is either 90 and died from subsequent heart attack or 5 and was suffering from a 1 in a million condition beforehand and was gonna die anyhow.

Just think of the benefits.

Doc dont want to see you, diagnoses over phone.

You never have to prove anything.

So you've got swine flu Nobby?

Flu and cold symptoms are very similar as far as I'm aware.  It seems a perfectly reasonable response to a non life threatening illness.

No Mike, I have a cold.  IIRC one of the more relevant symptoms of flu is a raging temperature - not something either of us have.

It's all bollocks to a) save money on screening, b) scare the shit out of the populus and c) make us forget what lying, cheating twunts they all are in Westminster.

IMHO of course

I don't even think swine flu is as dangerous as 'the sniffles'.  Man flu on the other hand....that has the potential to be a global killer.
Never known anyone die of Man flu, they just convince you theyre going to die of it, then when they pass it onto you, theyre suddenly well again.

Well I did die of Man Flu actually in a previous life, and it wasn't pleasant I tell ya!

Good thing I believe in re-incarnation.
