Chain Griding

Hi all,

My chain spanned earlier today, managed to get a 9 speed SRAM from the LBS.

Measured the length etc, fitted the chain, but all i get know is a grinding sound, seems to shift ok since fitting the new chain. Im getting new jockey wheels tomorrow and the rear cassette is new 2months old and the chainrings arent too badly worn.

Any ideas? Cheers

Its quite easy/common to route it incorrectly through the rear mech, going the wrong side of the guide plate between the jockey wheels.

Ensure that the chain goes over the the top jockey wheel at the front, then under the bridge plate, and round the back of the lower jockey wheel.

Its so easy to route it over the bridge as unde it, i know i did it.

I've done it too.
Theres an 'n in my garden

Appologies for the spulling error, it was in haste.

I could have sworn id got it the correct side of the plate, but maybe i havent, any diagrams available??

if it touches the plate, its on the wrong side.
