I'm looking to replace my tyres, and am not sure what to opt for. I ride approx 100 miles a week on average, though will be off to Switzerland in a bit to do some serious miles for a week. Good puncture resistance is a must, but also want low rolling resistance, good grip, good wear rate, and light weight!! (Am i asking too much??!!) Have had a couple of suggestions, noteably the michelin pro3, and the vittoria rubino pro folding tyre. Anyone have any experience of these, are they any good? Many thanks in advance.

Pro 3 changed to them from the pro 2 early this year and they are best road tyre I've used.

Vittoria Open Corsa Evo CX, would be my choice. Maybe the Pave CG if you want a little more wear and puncture resistance.

__________.jpg) I like Bontrager Race Lites

Vittoria Open Corsa Evo CX They are reported to cut to easily, mind so do the Pro 3s
hmmm. seems if i want low rolling resistance and good grip, i have to compromise on the wear issue.

The CX's cut less than the Pro 3's, IME.
hmmm. seems if i want low rolling resistance and good grip, i have to compromise on the wear issue. You certainly will.

ok, then i'd rather compromise the wear than the grip/rolling resistance. The vittoria open Corsa's seem a bit expensive, i've found a pair of michelin pro3's for £50 delivered.
and they are in 'bling white'!!! (sorry, ivory, to be precise!!)
Sorry, didn't see 'budget' in your original post
not so much budget, but £80 as opposed to £50 is a hefty difference. Unless there is anywhere that sells the Vottoria's for less than £40 a pop?
The very latest ones (which I haven't tried) are £34 at Parker Int the ones I've used are £25 in white/black also from Parker Int.

hmmm. interesting! what about conti 4000's? they any good?
 Conti's are slow.
oh. So that's why the are more puncture resistant??!! (thicker/heavier/roll slower??!!) don't like the sound of that.
I always remember a friend of mine turning up for a ride with a brand new pair of 4000's on as he'd had way too many punctures in the last few rides. He got 5 miles before the front one was written off by a tiny flint. To be honest it would have trashed any tyre.

I guess I want to find something that will roll fast, grip well, and not be prone to puncture. Wear....I can live with reduced wear if i have the other three factors. You'd still recommend the Vittoria's?
Certainly, they've served me very well for many thousands of miles. Tried Mich Pro's, Conti Force/Attack, Hutchinson Fusion and others but always come back to the Vittoria's.
OK, well, you appear to know what you are on about, and have used several long, impressive words to back up your case (i.e. 'Certainly', 'Resistance' and 'punctures') so i will heed your advice and opt for the Vittoria's! However, if i encounter puncture related problems whilst away cycling in Switzerland, you shall be haunted by the sound of my distant cries of anger and frustration, and my message-board-wrath upon my return!!! Thanks for the advice, though!!

Like I said at the beginning, if you want a little more puncture resistance use the Pave CG's. I may be tempting fate but I've done 3k + miles in Majorca over the past 4 years and never had a puncture.
