   Hola chap,

I recently had occasion to purchase the september edition of 'What Mountain bike' which I found to be particularly entertaining and informative. Enclosed therein was one of these here DVD thingys. I have tried to play it on my computer to no avail. Anyone else had the same problem or is it just me?

Does the disc label appear under the drive?  Have you tried it in a standalone dvd player as opposed to your pc? If no to both of these then it's probably a bad copy.

One thing to try would be the vlc media player.

Is your 'computer' a spectrum 48k though Treacle?

If so you need to upgrade to modern day PC with 'DVD drive'.

Thanks for the advice chaps, I will follow it all diligently and see what happens.

Karlos, how well you know me!! Luckily, my daughters visited us yesterday and like all modern youth they are fully conversant with computers. They set to work on the thing and confidently  declared that it had all the requisite programmes and that the DVD should work. As to why it didn't, they just shrugged their shoulders and opened another bottle of wine. I assume they think that I shouldn't be playing with modern things.

Is it a Spectrum 48K? Dunno, it's black, flat and came from PC World. Does that give you a clue?

                            Flamenco, the true path!

Eighteen years later, I have got the DVD to work!!!! Totally my fault, I had conflicting programmes on my computer which a nice man in India sorted out for me over the phone.
