I am looking for a winter project, to build up ready for next spring. Who makes a decent 853 road bike frame? edit: Something suitable for mile munching, not too low at the front.

You know you want to .Brother man.

Why has it got disc mounts?

so you can fit some of these.

 Oh they're a pretty!

I dont think to many companies make 853 road frames for some reason(anyone?).Have a look at the Planet X Kaffenback Monkey, they look like a good solid frame as well.

There are loads of 853 frames around, I just can't think of any off top of my head. Head over to RCUK.

I'd expect an 853 road frame to be quite flexy so not a very efficient ride compared to a carbon or aluminium frame. Also they're likely to rust up during winter road usage due to salt on the roads which is not much of a problem for aluminium and less so for carbon.

True, but isn't that about £2300, frame only? They have em' in my LBS, very nice.

I'd expect an 853 road frame to be quite flexy so not a very efficient ride compared to a carbon or aluminium frame. My Marin point reyes frame (aluminiun) flexes more than my Cotic Soul (853) frame when under load.
