I find that running the pad cartridge slightly loose works well. It doesn't get knocked off kilter by braking, and you don't get the problems of the whole lot going out of line while tightening it fully. You can also hand adjust with a bit of brute force. But as detailed earlier, my V's are pretty rubbish anyway, and my new bike next week is getting Minis.
