Re-charge a go-go

A British inventor based in Sweden has developed a mobile phone charging unit that is operated via - and comes complete with - a dynamo

Reported by our mates at trade mag Bikebiz, The Pedal & Power charging kit will cost £24.95 and will be available in February/March next year. It comes complete with a dynamo and universal fixing bracket, a phone holder for the handlebars and a jet-engine shaped charging unit which can be slung under the top tube. You plug your own in-car cigar lighter phone charging cable because it is not possible to supply a universal one.

We wonder if it's possible to run other devices off the cigar-lighter charging socket, and now we can look forward to the possiblity of running traffic-jam warning devices, CD players and those little portable electric water heaters that sad reps use to warm up cups of tea in laybys. Or maybe one of those little fans to cool you as you ride. The mind boggles.
