Afternoon bike + hike to the Graham of Corwharn from Glen Quharity.
Great solitude buzz, but the landy track on the OS detoriates past the Clinking Cauldron and is a chore rather than a pleasure. If wet probably not a lot of fun as is grass based later on, with some high annoying heather on it as well to impede your progress.
On Friday, climbed the Corbett over from lochnagar(Conachcraig). Track very cycleable to 3/4 of the way up to the Lochnagar/Conachcraig bealach. Possible great future circuit from Glen Mick up over this to Braemar, and back along the flat landy track north of this hill.
Saturday morning, headed West from Linn of Dee into a slightly wet but soul destroying headwind. Went out past White Bridge, and Bob Scott's? bothy and halfway to the Geldie lodge ford - 1.15h there, 45 back. Track pretty good overall.
Late afternoon went up Geallaig Hill, track on OS looks cycleable but would have been very rough in places. Up and down on foot in 1.5h, very windy.
After losing my way on all things MTB for a couple of years, 3 trips in 3 weeks.
From Dunkeld upto Loch Ordie with the missus. Good legs on the climb despite complete lack of cycling all year, must be the sugar laden energy stuff I'd been drinking all morning.
From Invermark in Glen Esk, upto through Glen Lee to Lee Bothy. Left the bikes and climbed up Hunt Hill. Good feeling of middle of nowhere buzz despite being in the Cairngorms on a Saturday afternoon. http://photosbygav.fotopic.net/c1567207.html
Last Saturday, valiant plans to cycle/carry up clachnaben then cycle onto Mount Battock. Went the Glen Dye direct route instead of the landrover tracks past Char. Not a good idea. Track fine to the forest, then cycle/carry through forest. Left bikes and walked to the summit - huge drainage ditches wouldn't have been fun either way had I pesereved. Missus and bro scathing on my route selection. No Battock, but good cycle home.
