You don't need the DH rig, as there are plenty of uphilly bits, but you wouldn't struggle too much on it either. The official route tends to miss out most of the DH courses IIRC, but there's still enough of a challenge.
The lifts are still open for everyone else, so you can ride anywhere you normally could. |

I'm not sure about the Boost scheme, but certainly with Cyclescheme the only people who lose out are the shops that supply the equipment. Cyclescheme take a 10% cut as an admin fee, which comes out of the shop's revenue. The customer still ends up paying the same.
Yes, companies can set up their own schemes, but the amount of organisation and red-tape is enough to put most HR departments off doing it. Our shop recently did a lot of business through cyclescheme with a very large local manufacturer. Without Cyclescheme to administer the process, there's no way that either we, or the company involved would have been able to keep track of what was going on. I think that pretty much justifies their fee.
It's not like the fee gets added on to what the customer pays after all. They still pay the same. It's the shop that loses a percentage of their profit. These schemes actually boost cycle sales revenue, so all but the stupidest LBS owners would want to sign up. A 10% loss in margin doesn't compare against a 200% increase in sales does it?
As for the point about high earners gaining more from the scheme, you should either endeavour to improve yourself and get a higher paid job, or resign yourself to the fact that more able people get paid more. |
