On my winter bike I have Mavic MA2 rims on Tiagra hubs , no spoke breakages and no real problems but I am noticing that the braking surface of the rim seems almost concave with wear.In the wet the brakes really seem to grind into the rims leaving a 'nice' black alloy and brake rubber paste over the wheels / forks and everyting .Is there any way of gauging how much 'wear' is left in the rim?? or do I just wait for it to wear right through with possibly disastrous consequences. Also am thinking of 'up-grading' Ultegra hubs with open-pro rims to Mavic ksyrium Equipe wheels , is this worth while? The Ultegra/open-pro combination has been most impressive but guess don't look so neat.

Having read all yours about 'pooling' , is there a benefit (after proper warm-down) in sitting with legs horizontal?? |

My regular commuting route has long sections of cycle lane(green section of tarmac on the left and side of carriageway) and bus lane .I guess that I have right of way to overtake on the inside ;junction or no junction when in these lanes?? I assume that drivers are obliged to stop and check before crossing these lanes??

I have Carnac Passy shoes and they are certainly the most comfortable I've got they also have taken a lot of road abuse from salt/sand/rain etc., and still are in very good condition. You do need to be very careful when tightening the 'inserts' onto the shoe .To me it seems as though the metal is too soft and the thread could easily be over tightened and stripped. Use Threadlock or similar .
