i've had 3 29ers. imo for XC they are perfect. wouldn't use one (and don't) in all situations - devils starcase last weekend, case in point - but for more regular rides they are fab. mine have been rigid, and now with 80mm travel. they roll really nicely, keep their momentum, i've not had handling issues, they are quick over flat and rolling terrain, and if i can come in the top 3rd of a race with 150odd people on a rigid SS they can't be that bad... have successfully cleared laggan black on mine - not exactly a race bike friendly route... and was out in the alps this summer with a guy on a rigid 29er who was riding very nicely... definitley worth riding one yourself so you can form your own oppinions of them dunno how to embed pics, but here is me coming into a lovely 2 wheeled drift on my old on-one  |
