Has anyone been to the area? I'm off there in August and was wondering if there was any good riding around there.

Any information or help would be greatly appreciated.

XCman,

I'm fully with you on the disappointment that 'our' private routes appear in these magazines! You think you have a nice piece of the Dales to yourself and then MBR do a expose.

And lights during the day? Absolutely! My first time there and I hit a black dog right in the darkest section! I don't know who got the greatest surprise. I always laugh to myself when I see riders around there in sunglasses.

Do you ever use the cafe in Clapham, on the corner by the car park? Take her dog for a walk and you get free cake!

How unlucky can this man be?

John Tennant  - Buy the January MBR and your favourite bridge is in there as one of the routes! And guess what? It's still nowhere near Bradford but appears to be betweeen Wharf and Crummock!

John,

There are many local lads on here, speaking as someone born in Bradford and living in Harrogate I don't count myself obviously!

If you need independant proof that this clapper bridge is where we say it is (between Wharf and Crummock) then read the guide book for the area - More routes in the Lakes and Dales it is even in there!

Head through the hamlet of Wharf, enjoy riding through peoples' garden and up the lovely singletrack. After the bridge is a large chunk of bedrock to negotiate and then a t junction, left towards Clapham if you desire on the track to the tunnels under the estate or right to the stiff grass climb up towards Sulber pot.

If you can find it closer to Bradford then why not give us the grid reference?

Anyone who has ridden around Horton or Clapham might well rocgnise it;

The clapper bridge on the track out of Wharf towards Crummack, the pool behind is the 'sheep dub'.

It is on a good route in a brilliant area.
