| Now if i was going to get a Cove in this situation it would be the Hustler more XC than FR damn fine bike and Leisure lakes will build you up a custom bike :) frame costs about £1200 but they knock money off the components and frame if you buy it as a whole bike :) |

| Sharp chisel underneath the race then hit the chrisel down to lever the race up! repeat around the stearer tube until its off or if your feeling real lazy and know the make of your headset head to the Local bike shop and get a new race that will fit :) |

Just seen your next post it will be on the old steeter tube the bearing race that is down by the crown of the forks
Here is an example of what one looks like

That would be the aptly names "Star fangled nut" and yes it should stay there because unless you want to break it it wont be coming out ina hurry! Oh and its what the screw on top of your headset goes into to sort of you know hold it all in place :)
Oh and the bearing race which Dylan so elequently removed with a screw driver and hammer (actually the best way suprisingly) may be split depending on the headset this is actually alright so dont be worried by it.
Hope this helps |

Ok you say that you have upto £125 to spend so a quick look on chainreaction gave me a list of about 20 brand spanking new forks in that price bracket! Okay some of them may be a few years old... but that doesnt matter does it? Really? Nah didnt think so!
Forks Cheepest at the top :)
Okay though reading what Jon said he is probably right on the fact that 100mm travel will be too much for the frame geometry and believe me when i say you dont want the problems bad stearing causes or if you like bad steering invest ina good hard hat :) Well invest in one of those anyway i seem to have gone a little off topic. Back to forks there are a couple of pairs in the selection that have 60mm travel and quite a lot with 80mm which would still probably be too much but a lot better than 100mm i'll let you look at them and pick which ones you like the most though the 2005 Rockshox Judy U-Turn probablly is not to bad set at its lowest travel and then you could try that funny steering thrill for yourself by winding up the travel :)
One thing i will point out is that unless something has changed the Marzocchi EXR forks were made by somebody else (SR SunTour i think) and the quality was a bit dodgy on some of them this as i say may have changed.
Hope this helps, not that i really answered the question i suppose... |
