just for the record (and i know it doesn't help here) but CRC are the absolute nuts on sending stuff out. ordered a set of z1's from them around midday on a tuesday and they were waiting for me at work on the wednesday morning. if only everyone else was as good - they are the only ones i know i can rely on.
hope you get your money back (and the forks - a la gerry above!)
This is probably a really stupid set of questions but I can't find the answers I need anywhere so be gentle.
I'm trying to fit a rear derailleur to a Cove Stiffee FR frame.
1. The fixing bolt seems ever so slightly too large for the hole in the hanger - ie: the bolt will screw in but it appears to be cross threading / stripping the thread - what am I doing wrong because I guess that can't be right.
2. The B adjustment screw would appear to need to be all the way out in order to get the derailleur to line up and fit properly against the hanger - this is presuming that the little shoulder the B adjustment screw is in should be flush against the hanger.
If the screw is all the way out then surely it can't be much help with adjustment (can't be screwed in because it would be screwing into the hanger...)
So what am I doing wrong? If I fix the derailleur so the screw CAN be adjusted in and out then the derailleur sits at a weird angle in comparisson to the one on my other bike.
Sorry to be asking daft questions but it's my first derailleur fitting and I don't want to knacker the hanger before I even get on the bike.
And I thought this would be the easy bit...hydraulic discs next...doh.
