| £220 sounds a bit high, £200 is plenty. That'll build into a more valuable bike than a Trailstar though. I don't think the MsIsle is as heavy as it looks, the tubing is big in cross section, but quite thin guage. Why don't you just weigh it if you're concerned? |

| Barry, those Altura shorts are good for what they are, but they're not cheap and you may find that they have less padding than tight shorts. Wiggle is good for mail order, but most of their shorts are at full price plus you have to pay postage, so you'd do better to buy from your LBS - that way you can check for sure that what you're buying has the most padding. |

Like Paul says above, two things have happened not just one - first thing is you have reduced the angle of the head tube by about one degree, which will make the steering slower, second thing is you've increased the height of the bars which makes it harder to get your weight over the front and makes the handling seem vague initially until you get used to it and your body learns to compensate.
Don't worry too much about the steering being slower, if the forks are an upgrade and the action is better they should still give a better ride than before. And I disagree with the Ancient Mariner (ooh err!) - you should maybe fit a *shorter* stem not a longer one. A shorter stem will speed the steering up again, bring the bar height back down and make it easier to get your weight down. |

A lay-back post with the saddle right back on its rails is a sign that the rider actually needs a bigger bike. But two wrongs don't make a right - a saddle miles behind the bottom bracket gives an inefficient riding position.
Far better to get a frame the right length and a straight post. |
