Have a look at the Revolution range from Edinburgh Bicycle Co-Op. All excellent value for money, designed and specced by people who know about cycling.

This looks a lovely thing for my gentle commuting and country ambling style of cycling. Anyone got any feedback? It has 28" wheels - that is a new one on me?

Wherever you go, do check out the small print. Is cover restricted to the bike being on your property? Usually it is a condition of cover off your property that the bike is locked to an immovable object. Ask the insurers for precise info on this one. What do they term an immovable object? Do thy specify the lock you must use? How much is the excess, if there is one. And if they do pay up for a loss, do they specify who will supply the replacement? Check it out. I hear the CTC insurance takes some beating.

Have a look at the Revolution range from Edinburgh Bicycle Cooperative. Not quite what I suppose one would strictly call a hybrid, but my Revolution Courier '05 is just lovely, seems almost the ideal commuter steed. Fast, light, stylish and at just £245 delivered to your door, you would be hard-pressed to find better value.

Those chain cleaner devices are very good.Try white spirit in place of degreaseing fluid - much cheaper.
