"same rear suspension as a FSR seriously"
So Specialized's oft-criticized, hyperactive, apparently paranoid lawyers have let that one go have they? |

I'm told that aqueous cream works wonders for stopping scarring. Personally I'm still subscribing to the 'chicks dig scars' routine, it doens't seem to be working tho...
Anyway, sorry to hear about your crash bang wallop, any snap crackle and pop to report? |

At the £200 there are some good bikes, but also alot of tat. Giant offer some good bikes at that price point. Realistically tho the Specialized Hardrock at £300 is a really good bike and the after-sales support from Specialized is getting towards being legendary. Alternatively the Trek 4300 at the same price is very similar. If you want disk brakes then expect to spend approx another £100 pound for something like the Giant Terrago Disk (Hydraulic Disks on that one...really a spectacular bike for the money)
Oh, and an AWOL frame is another bike from Saracen very similar to your Ikon. Which reminds me, all of the bikes mentioned above are hardtails, i.e. no rear suspension. As far as I'm aware the cheapest full suspension bike which 'actually works properly' i.e. isn't an over-priced kids bike built to con the unwary and fasion conscious, is the Specialized FSR at £800. Tho I hasten to add that you really don't 'need' a full sus bike for the riding you've described. |

Maybe that's why you only raced once? You need to learn to get away from the gun faster? ;o)
Oh, and for when Richard comes back and reads this, I think the racers on this forum are in the minority. At the end of the day it's all about getting out and enjoying riding your bike whenever and however. |

| I think the point being made is that after-market disks are made to a quality which far outstrips your frame. It therefore follows that if you are riding to such a level that you 'need' disks, then you are also highly likely to need a new frame. |
