'PRETTY DARN GOOD RIDE. (FUEL EX8 '07)'
Strengths:
Excellent rear suspension and handy pro-pedal damping on shock.
Great fork Fox floatl 130mm.
Excellent wheels. Still true after 2 months of thrashing.
Bontrager kit adequate.
Tyres good for summer use.
Weaknesses:
Paint finish terrible. Very sub standard on a £1500 bike. Covered in scratches and cable rub marks after only 2 weeks!
Jumping gear problems meant I had to change rear cassette, shifter and install flying snake cables
Grips are crap-changed to Ruffians
Seatclamp can tilt seat back if hit hard.
Overall:
Despite the niggles with the paint finish and gear problems, this is really a great bike. Its quite light at 27lbs on the bathroom scales, the geometry is spot on, and the suspension is excellent.
It flies down trails and then can climb back up almost as well.
A great "Trail" bike, and needs to be as it gets thrashed around the Stanes.

Unfortunately the poor paint and gear problems means the review is below what it really should be.
TREK- Sort your paint out and you would have a winner!
